Common Mistakes to Avoid in CTET 2026
- Underestimating CDP: Many candidates focus only on subject knowledge and ignore Child Development & Pedagogy. CDP has 30 marks in both papers and is a common toppling point.
- Not reading NCERT textbooks: CTET closely maps its content to NCERT textbooks (Class 1–8). Candidates who skip NCERT and rely only on CTET guides miss many direct questions.
- Confusing Language I and Language II: Language I is your chosen medium of instruction; Language II is the second language you select. Many candidates muddle up the pedagogy questions for each.
- Ignoring the pedagogy section of subjects: CTET doesn't just ask "what is mathematics" but "how do you teach fractions to a child?" — pedagogical knowledge is tested separately.
- Not attempting all questions: Since there is NO negative marking, leaving questions blank is a mistake. Even guessing gives 25% chance of getting it right.
- Overlooking current NCERT revisions: NCERT frequently updates textbooks. Make sure you are reading the latest editions, especially for EVS and Social Studies.
- Poor time management: 150 questions in 150 minutes = 1 minute per question. Candidates who spend too long on CDP or Language sections run out of time for Mathematics/EVS.
