Current official status — October 16, 2026: HPPSC's press note No. 4-8/2026-PSC (R-III) dated 14.10.2026 states that the PST & PET will be held from 22 October 2026 to 5 December 2026, and e-call letters have been uploaded on candidates' HPPSC User IDs. The district-wise schedule will be notified by the Police Department. The written exam date is not officially announced.

What Happens on Ground Test Day

Based on the official advertisements:

1. Report with your e-call letter and the identity proof/documents listed in its instructions, at the venue and time printed on it.
2. Physical Standard Test (PST): height (and chest for male candidates) is measured. All measurements are taken by a Medical Officer, recorded on the candidate's sheet and signed, as per the DGP's SOP. Height is final as measured by the DRC at PST/PET.
3. Category is locked: no change of category/sub-category is made at PST except where circumstances are beyond the candidate's control.
4. Dope test: the Police Department may conduct a dope test for narcotics/opiates at the outset of PET.
5. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): four events, all qualifying. Failure in any event disqualifies the candidate from the remaining events.
6. Videography: outdoor PET events are videographed.
7. Same-day result: the District Recruitment Committee (DRC) displays the physical test result on the same day. A dissatisfied candidate may appeal by 12 noon the following day. Once the DRC decides appeals, no further changes or representations are entertained, and HPPSC will not revise PST/PET marks.

The original 2026 advertisements used 01.01.2026 as the age-reference date. HPPSC then granted a one-time one-year relaxation in the upper age limit for all categories (August 3, 2026) and a one-time five-year relaxation for Home Guards of HP (August 21, 2026).

The official advertisements require Matriculation and +2. The +2 qualification must be from a school/institution/Board situated in Himachal Pradesh; this condition is waived for Bonafide Himachalis.
