4.1 Educational Qualification

A candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent qualification acquired on or before the crucial date.

Essential Requirement for Delhi Police SI (Male Candidates Only):

  • Male candidates applying for Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Light Motor Vehicle — Motorcycle and Car) on or before the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests (PE&MT).

Stage 1: Paper-I — Computer Based Test (CBT)

The Paper-I is the initial screening and scoring examination. As per the official SSC examination schedule notice released on October 1, 2026, Paper-I CBT is officially scheduled to be conducted nationwide from November 20, 2026 to November 28, 2026. Note on Pregnancy: Female candidates found to be pregnant during the physical endurance test will be declared temporarily unfit, and their appointment will be held in abeyance until confinement is over, subject to re-examination.

Physical Standard Test (PST):

Height, chest (males only), and weight measurements are checked against the standards detailed in Section 4. Ex-servicemen appearing for PET/PST are required only to undergo and qualify the PST measurements; they are exempted from PET events.

  • Eye Sight: Minimum distant vision must be 6/6 in one eye (better eye) and 6/9 in the other eye (worse eye) without wearing glasses or contact lenses. Correction with glasses or surgical intervention (like LASIK) is subject to strict CAPF medical board guidelines and may lead to disqualification for direct entry uniformed roles unless permitted under specific recent guidelines.
  • Color Vision: Must possess high color vision (tested via Ishihara plates). Color blindness is a disqualifier.
  • Physical Defects: Knock knees, flat foot, varicose veins, squint in eyes, or pigeon chest lead to medical unfitness.
  • Tattoos: Tattoos depicting religious symbols or figures and names as per Indian Army traditions are permitted on the inner aspect of the forearm (only left forearm) or dorsum of the hands. Size must not exceed 1/4th of the respective body part.
  • Review Medical Examination (RME): Candidates declared unfit in DME can appeal for an RME before a review medical board within the prescribed timeline.

NCC Certificate Bonus Marks (Added to Paper-I & Paper-II):
