Major Change: Future RPF Executive Recruitment Moves to SSC-CAPF Procedure

The Railway Protection Force Amendment Rules, 2025 were notified by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) as G.S.R. 766(E), dated 17 October 2025. They came into force on publication in the Gazette and made a major structural change.

The amended Rule 49.1 states that selection for direct recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspectors and Constables in the Executive Cadre shall be made as per the recruitment procedure of the Staff Selection Commission for Central Armed Police Forces.

The same amendment also changed Rule 45(2): in place of the words "take steps to fill them up in accordance with these rules", the rule now says "send it to Railway Board".

That means the old assumption that every future RPF Constable recruitment will necessarily repeat the RRB CEN RPF 02/2024 application and examination workflow is no longer safe.

RPF Constable 2026 Eligibility Under the New Statutory Rules

Educational Qualification

For direct recruitment to Constable (Executive), the 2025 amendment requires:

• an equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University.

Age Limit

The amended Rule 48.3 states that a candidate for Constable (Executive), by direct recruitment, must be:
