3. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification (Grade 'B' General)

  • Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) OR
  • Post-Graduate Degree with a minimum of 55% marks (Pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters/years.

(For DEPR - Master's in Economics required. For DSIM - Master's in Statistics/Mathematics required).

Age Limit (As on Crucial Date defined in Notification)

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: 30 Years
  • M.Phil / Ph.D Holders: 32 / 34 Years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 33 Years (+3 years)
  • SC / ST: 35 Years (+5 years)

Number of Attempts

  • General/EWS: Limited to 6 attempts at the Phase-I examination.
  • OBC/SC/ST/PwBD: No restriction (subject to age limit).

In ESI and FM, candidates must type answers on a keyboard for the descriptive portions. English paper involves Essay, Précis, and Comprehension.

Phase-III: Psychometric Test & Interview

  • Final Merit: Phase-II (300 marks) + Interview (75 marks) = Total 375 marks.

6. How to Apply Online

  1. Visit opportunities.rbi.org.in → Click on 'Current Vacancies' → 'Vacancies'.
  2. Follow the link "Recruitment for the post of Officers in Grade 'B'".
  3. Click on "Click here for New Registration". Fill in details and get the Provisional Registration Number.
  4. Upload Photo, Signature, Left Thumb Impression, and Hand-Written Declaration.
  5. Fill in academic details and select exam centers.
  6. Pay the Application Fee:
    • General/OBC/EWS: ₹850/- + GST
    • SC/ST/PwBD: ₹100/- + GST
  7. Submit and download the e-receipt.

7. Preparation Strategy & Books

  • Phase I Current Affairs: 80 marks out of 200. Focus purely on Government Schemes, Union Budget, RBI Circulars, and Financial/Economic news (last 6 months). Look beyond regular banking CA.
  • Writing Speed (Phase II): Typing answers out on a computer is a huge challenge. Practice typing 400-600 word essays to build speed.

    • Indian Financial System — Bharati V. Pathak (for Finance fundamentals)
