Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) 2026

Owned, developed, and published by the College Board, the SAT is the primary entrance exam used by colleges and universities in the United States and broadly across global undergraduate institutions.

1. The Transition to Digital SAT

The paper-pencil test has been fully retired globally. The new Digital SAT is delivered via the secure Bluebook app on student/test-center devices.

  • Total Testing Time: 2 Hours and 14 Minutes
  • Sections Count: 2 Core Modules.
    • Reading and Writing Module: 64 Min duration (focuses on short, varied texts).
    • Math Module: 70 Min duration (calculators are now permitted on the entire math section natively within the Bluebook app).
  • Adaptive Testing: The test adapts its difficulty in real-time according to student performance in the first module of each section.

3. Notable Aspects

  • Scoring Structure: Rated entirely out of a 1600 point scale (800 for Math, 800 for Reading/Writing).
  • Result Turnover: Digital test outputs usually post results significantly faster (often within days instead of weeks).
  • International centers host the exam up to 7 distinct weekends annually (August, October, November, December, March, May, June).
