West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2026

WBJEEB functions as the statutory body for conducting, organizing, and executing WBJEE to facilitate admissions to Engineering/Technology, Architecture, and Pharmacy Degree Courses situated inside Universities/Colleges in West Bengal.

This exam is exceptionally crucial as it serves as the predominant entry path to Jadavpur University along with several other esteemed state engineering colleges.

2. Core Dates (Tentative)

• Online Application Starts: Late December 2025.
• Final Date to Submit: January 31, 2026.
• Examination Date: April 26, 2026 (Typically the last Sunday of April).

3. Examination Format (OMR Based)

The test occurs offline across diverse centers in West Bengal (plus Tripura/Assam).

• Paper 1: Mathematics (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM) - 75 Questions (100 Marks).
• Paper 2: Physics & Chemistry (2:00 PM to 4:00 PM) - 40 Questions Each (100 Marks combined).

Complex Category Evaluation System

1. Category 1: Only one correct option (+1 Mark, -0.25 negative).
2. Category 2: Only one correct option (+2 Marks, -0.5 negative).
3. Category 3: One or more options may be correct. (+2 Marks for all correct choices, penal logic applies if uncircled options exist, zero marks if incorrect option selected). NO negative marks strictly speaking, but partial evaluation penalizes incomplete identification.

5. Out of State Domicile Constraints

Non-West Bengal domicile candidates are eligible to appear, secure ranks, and participate. However, their seating is restricted to particular tiers primarily within Private/Unaided Engineering institutions. Only top performers generally receive opportunities in prestigious domains.
