University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2026
National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC-NET to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for 'Assistant Professor' and 'Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor' in Indian universities and colleges.
1. Exam Cycle (June 2026)
- Information Bulletin: Expected Early April 2026.
- Dates of Examination: Mid-June 2026.
- Mode: Computer Based Test (CBT) only.
2. Examination Pattern
- Paper-I: General Paper on Teaching & Research Aptitude (50 Questions, 100 Marks).
- Paper-II: Subject Specific Paper (100 Questions, 200 Marks).
- Both papers are conducted in a single three-hour block with no break. There is no negative marking for incorrect responses.

4. Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
Candidates qualifying for JRF receive a fellowship from UGC to pursue advanced studies and research leading to M.Phil./Ph.D. Degrees in Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM etc., along with eligibility for Assistant Professorship.
