4. UGC NET Examination Pattern

The UGC NET June 2026 examination will be conducted entirely as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). It comprises two distinct papers administered sequentially in a single 3-hour session.

  • Paper 1 (General Aptitude): Compulsory for all. Evaluates teaching aptitude, research aptitude, comprehension, logical and mathematical reasoning, data interpretation, and ICT awareness. It includes 50 questions worth 100 marks.
  • Paper 2 (Subject-Specific): Based entirely on the specific subject chosen by the candidate (from over 85 available disciplines). It includes 100 questions worth 200 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: Correct answers yield +2 marks. Crucially, there is no negative marking.
