5. Eligibility Criteria

A. Age Limit (as of the prescribed cut-off date)

• Minimum Age: 20 Years.
• Maximum Age: 35 Years (Unreserved Male candidates).
• Upper Age Relaxations (Gujarat Domicile):
  • Unreserved Female Candidates: 5 Years relaxation (Up to 40 Years).
  • SC / ST / SEBC / EWS Male Candidates: 5 Years relaxation (Up to 40 Years).

B. Educational Qualification

• Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature, or declared deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
• Candidates appearing in the final semester/year of their graduation were eligible to apply for Prelims, provided proof of passing is submitted during the Mains document verification stage.
• Basic computer working knowledge is mandatory as per Gujarat Civil Services rules.

C. Physical Standards (Only for Gujarat Police Service - DySP Class-1)

The Prelims consists of 2 objective OMR-based papers. The marks are used solely for shortlisting candidates for the Mains (in a ratio approximately 15 times the advertised vacancies) and are not counted in the final merit rank.

Stage 2: Main Examination (900 Marks — Written Descriptive)

Unlike UPSC CSE, GPSC Class 1 & 2 does not feature an optional subject. All candidates appear for the same 6 compulsory papers:
